Brief Educational/Employment Background: Donny Crane was educated at the Boston University School of Law with the dream of being like his father, Denny Crane. He graduated ambitious and hopeful. He was hired by a firm, and ended up representing a case about water rights and endangered species, which he ultimately won, against Brad Chase of Crane, Poole and Schmidt, marking the first time he competed with his father. Shortly after, Donny discovered that Denny wasn’t his father at all, and he sought to win against him in court for revenge, in which he was not successful. Recently, Donny represented the plaintiff in a case suing the United States for unlawfully denying aid to a clinic in Nepal, which he lost to opposing counsels Denny Crane and Alan Shore. He left his law firm after that and was hired by Hadden Rowe in New York as a junior associate.

Personality: Donny is competitive and ambitious, and likes to take on loss cause cases. He says that he takes hope in the struggle of trying them before a court. The news that Denny Crane was not his father left him devastated and angry, though he had spent most of his childhood alone with his mother, Denny had always been there when he needed him. For a long time, he was vengeful towards Denny, but after the death of his mother and discovery of his real father, who was not the image he grew up with, Donny accepted Denny as the father figure he had always been, even though it wasn’t by blood. While it still remains a scar, Donny is much happier to have the father he always looked up to.

Strengths: Donny is ambitious and determined to get things done. He goes for the underdog, trying to make a voice for them, and gives it his all when he does. While he’s still a green lawyer, he more than makes up for his inexperience with his determination and will.
Weaknesses: His biggest weakness is his lack of experience as a lawyer, making him an easy victim to more experienced lawyers like Alan Shore. He is also uncomfortable around women, afraid that he’ll say the wrong thing, especially women he likes. When things go particularly bad, he has been known to get anxiety attacks with large amounts of stress.
